Dear members,

In light of some concerns from our members over issues that have arisen in the past, we have decided to implement the following policy. Personal attacks on another member are not tolerated. We are therefore implementing a discretionary "two-strikes" rule. If you find an offensive post, please PM and administrator with a link to the post. We will review the post and if we agree that the post crosses the line, we will send a warning PM to the offending poster. If we do not agree, we will contact the reporter and explain our reasoning.

Once a member has received a warning, s/he will be on probation. We will excuse any other complaints related to the same post, but will monitor the boards. If the poster makes another offensive post, and a complaint is PM'd to an administrator, and if we agree that the post is offensive, the member will be banned.

This is not to be taken lightly; therefore, we ask that you consider carefully before complaining about a post. To avoid any potential bullying, we will not review anonymous complaints; however, your identity will not be revealed to the offending member. We will also monitor for and discard what we feel are retaliatory complaints.

We acknowledge that banning a member is a drastic measure, which is why we reserve the right to review the offensive post before making any decision. We realize that oftentimes meaning comes across different when written rather than spoken. The poster will have an opportunity to appeal their first warning. However, once a decision to ban a member has been made by the admins, there is no appeals process.

That having been said, Austen Underground is intended to be a fun place for people to act like grown ups. We don't require that you have a love-fest, but we do require you to be respectful to each other. If you cannot comply, please do not post here.
